Metal Post
The steel pile is simply an oversized screw with one or multiple helix. The steel pile consists of a central shaft and a circular helical steel blade welded at the bottom.
The central shaft is a structural steel pipe which has various diameters and wall thickness to suit many foundation needs.
The helix blades that carry the loads are available in different diameters and thickness depending on load requirements and soil conditions.
As an added benefit there is also a heavy-duty polyethylene sleeve that has been especially designed to cover the exterior wall of the Techno Metal Post. It prevents frost heave from ground frost/thaw cycles or swelling/subsidence of clay by sliding along the shaft of the helical pile.
Installation
The steel pile is drilled with its sleeve into the ground using a specially designed hydraulic machine (only 29" wide) manufactured in Canada by Techno Metal Post. We stop screwing the steel pile when the torque required is achieved. Through engineered calculation, Techno Metal Post has calculated conversion factors to give load bearing capacities for the post. As a second safety feature, every pile is also load tested before any load is applied. Depending on the soil and depth required it takes 30 to 60 minutes per pile.
